What documents will I need to bring to the test venue?
On the day of the test the most important thing you will need to bring with you is your proof of identity documents. A list of documents will be specified in the letter or email confirming your booking.
A photograph will be taken of you during the test registration process, unless you bring two passport style photographs (no older than six months) with you.
Original documents
You should bring with you these original documents:
- full birth certificate, and
- your current passport or travel document, and
- up to two other forms of identification which has your photograph, signature and current residential address (such as your drivers licence).
Additional documents
Official Australian evidence of any name changes. This will usually be:
- a change of name certificate issued by an Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (RBDM), or
- a marriage certificate issued by an Australian RBDM if you married in Australia.
Overseas marriage certificates are not acceptable evidence of a change of name.
If you do not have these documents, please contact the department again as soon as possible about alternative documents that may be used to verify your identity.
Telephone: 131 880
Documents not in English
If your original identity documents are not in English, you will need to have them translated by a nationally accredited translator. Please contact the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) for further information.
Find your nearest NAATI qualified translator on the NAATI website.
