Czechoslovakian-born tennis professional, Jarmila Groth, became an Australian citizen at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.

'It’s a dream come true,' said Jarmila who is married to fellow Aussie tennis professional Sam Groth.

'I am incredibly excited and proud to become a citizen of this great nation, whose people have welcomed me so warmly and have made me feel at home since the very first time I came here.'

Jarmila fell in love with Australia during her first trip to the Australian Open as a 14 year-old junior player.

She now looks forward to representing Australia in future tournaments.
