In Australia, evidence of citizenship will usually be available within 14 days of lodging an application.

Applications lodged overseas are processed in Australia. It can take between four to nine weeks after application before the evidence is available.

Can I change the details on a current citizenship certificate?

If you need evidence of your citizenship in a different name you will need to complete and lodge a Form 119, pay the $55 application fee and provide official documentation of the name change.

Clients requesting a change to a certificate due to departmental error or where they have official evidence of different personal details issued before citizenship was acquired should contact the department on the number shown below.
