What can we do to celebrate Australian Citizenship Day?

Some ideas are:

  • organising an affirmation ceremony or a citizenship ceremony
  • holding a citizenship ceremony as part of a major community event or festival
  • finding out what citizenship ceremonies are being held in your area and asking if you can attend
  • inviting new citizens from different community groups to a citizenship picnic, BBQ, lunch, morning or afternoon tea or reception
  • holding an art exhibition or music evening to celebrate citizenship
  • using the Australian Citizenship Day Teaching Resource to learn about citizenship in the classroom
